The Wynnstay was a well known Coaching Inn on both the route from Liverpool to Cardiff and from London to Holyhead. There are references dating back to 1727, but the existing building is typical of the Georgian period, and there have been many alterations and additions over the years. Most recently, after the major renovations in 1989/1990, the function suite has been extended to seat 200 and the old stables and Coach House have been converted into a Leisure and Fitness Suite. The walled gardens house the 200 year old Crown Bowling Green, possibly one of the oldest in the Country and still used daily during the season.
